Welcome message

Dear friends,

IMIA and EFMI French member AIM (Association Française d'Informatique Médicale) is proposing to organise the next World Congress of Medical Informatics to be held in the European area.

This shall be a world wide sharing of knowledge to increase health of people anywhere in the world!

MedInfo is a worldwide key event in digital health. After having hosted its previous editions in Brazil and China, in 2019, MedInfo is back in Europe. For the first time, the event will be held in France, in Lyon, also called the “French Tech metropolis”. The city is located in the heart of the Auvergne- Rhône-Alpes region, which also happens to be a major player in health technologies. Hosting MedInfo 2019 is an honor for France, the Auvergne- Rhône- Alpes region, and the Métropole Grand Lyon. You will discover numerous emblematic e-health projects implemented in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. This is the French “Silicon Valley” with one of the largest digital entrepreneurship ecosystems of Europe. Lyon, Grenoble, Saint-Etienne, and Clermont-Ferrand account for tens of thousands jobs in health and biotechnologies with over 100 public laboratories and over 10,000 researchers in this sector. Lyon is known as the city of lights, the city where cinema was born and the world capital of gastronomy. We are pleased to welcome you in order to make MedInfo 2019 an outstanding meeting.

Philippe CINQUIN
President of the French Association of Medical Informatics (AIM)
Deputy Executive President of MedInfo2019 LOC

Dear MedInfo Attendees, It is my greatest honor to welcome you to MedInfo 2019 in the beautiful city of Lyon. Under the theme of “Health and Wellbeing: E-Networks for All”, MedInfo 2019 builds on a long IMIA tradition of sharing pioneering informatics research and insights to improve human health. MedInfo’s call for papers attracted record breaking submissions and I cannot express enough gratitude to our Scientific Program Committee Co-Chairs, Dr. Olivier Bodenreider and Dr. Michael Marschollek, our esteemed track chairs, and the scientific reviewers. Further appreciation goes to Dr. Lucila Ohno-Machado, Dr. Brigitte Séroussi, and to our student editors for editing the MedInfo 2019 Proceedings, which will be published in open access format. My gratitude goes to our Host Society, Association Française d'Informatique Médicale (AIM), President Pr. Phillippe Cinquin; the MedInfo 2019 LOC led by Pr. Jean-Marie Rodrigues, Pr Daniel Pagonis and the MCO Congress, VP MedInfo Mr. Patrick Weber, and CEO Elaine Huesing for all that they accomplished. Lastly, I thank the IMIA membership for their continued support and consistent expertise provided to the International Medical Informatics Association and our MedInfo conferences. Please celebrate with me the Lifetime Achievement of Susanne Bakken, the recipient of the 2019 François Grémy Award of Excellence at MedInfo. I encourage you to reach out to me, my fellow board members, and IMIA’s CEO; we welcome the opportunity to engage and connect with you. On behalf of IMIA, I wish you all a successful conference, here in Lyon, France, the home of IMIA’s founding leader, Professor Grémy.
